Privacy & Cookies
This is a small shop run by one person. Here's exactly what the site collects, what happens to it, and how to say no to the parts that are optional.

When you order
Checkout runs through Stripe. Stripe takes your card details under its own privacy policy; I never see your card number. I receive your name, email, shipping address and what you bought, which is what it takes to pack the kit, ship it, send a tracking number, and answer questions about the order. The carrier (USPS or UPS) gets your address to deliver it. Order records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
When you send a message
The quote form on the home page goes through Web3Forms, which delivers your name, email and message to my inbox and does not keep them for anything else. Email me directly and it's just email.
Cookies
On your first visit a banner asks whether I may set cookies. Nothing is set until you choose.
- Accept all. The site loads the Google tag (gtag.js) for Google Ads and,
when configured, Google Analytics. Google sets cookies such as
_gaand_gcl_authat let me count visits, see which pages people read, and see whether an ad brought someone here and whether they bought a kit. I use that to decide where to advertise. Google processes the measurement data under its own privacy policy. - Only necessary. No advertising or analytics cookie is set. Google's tag still receives cookieless pings with no identifier, used only to estimate visit counts.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats it as "Only necessary" without asking, for as long as the signal is on, even if you chose "Accept all" earlier. The Cookie settings link in the footer will tell you when that is happening.
Your choice is kept for twelve months in a first-party cookie named ss_consent,
mirrored in your browser's local storage. It holds only the word "all" or "necessary" and the
date. Change it any time from the Cookie settings link in
the footer, or by clearing cookies for this site in your browser. One other piece of local
storage is strictly functional: the offer banner remembers that you closed it, so it stays
closed. The cart is kept in your browser's local storage until you clear it, and checkout
happens on Stripe.
Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches them from Google. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs for security and reliability.
Saving a cart by email
You can save a cart and get it back later with your email address and a one time code. When you ask for a code, the site's own server (a Cloudflare Worker) emails it to you through Resend, the email provider, and keeps a hashed record of the code for ten minutes. Once you enter the code, the cart is stored for 90 days under a keyed hash of your email address, not the address itself, and a sign in token is kept in your browser for 30 days so changes save on their own. "Forget this device" in the cart removes that token. Nothing about the cart is shared with Google or anyone else, and the email address is used only to send the code. Codes are limited to five per address per hour.
Children
The shop is for adults setting up a home. It is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has placed an order or sent a message, email olivia@albanymakingmoves.com and I will delete it.
Your rights
I don't sell personal information. Under California law, loading advertising measurement counts as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising; choosing "Only necessary" in the banner, or sending the Global Privacy Control signal, opts you out of it. Whatever state you live in, you can ask me to:
- Know what personal information I hold about you and where it came from.
- Correct anything that is wrong, such as a shipping address.
- Delete it, except for the order records that tax and accounting rules require me to keep.
- Opt out of the advertising measurement described above, at any time, from the Cookie settings link in the footer.
