Making Moves is made in Albany. I pack every kit myself, a few blocks from Washington Park, and the idea came from a move here: a studio, a packed kitchen, and a fork borrowed from a neighbour. If you are moving anywhere in the Capital Region, the kit is coming from down the road.
What the kit is for
The days when the kitchen is packed and you still have to eat. Palm leaf plates and bowls that hold a hot meal, square platters for sharing, utensils wrapped in sets so nothing is loose in a box, and napkins. Sized by the number of days your kitchen will be out of action, so there is nothing left over to store.
Moving in and around Albany
A few things I have learned from moving here more than once. Leases in the student neighbourhoods turn over at the end of summer, so trucks and helpers are hardest to book in August; if you can move any other month, do. The stairs are steeper than they look in a lot of the older houses, so the small-box rule for the kitchen is not optional. And the first meal in the new place happens before anything is unpacked, every time, so plan for it. How fast do kits arrive in the Capital Region?
They ship from Albany, so the Capital Region is the shortest trip a kit makes. Most orders leave within one to two business days; see the shipping page for the details.
Do you deliver to Troy, Schenectady, Saratoga and Delmar?
Kits ship anywhere in the United States, so yes, all of them, at the same flat rate.
Are the plates recyclable?
They are palm leaf, a natural material, and they can go in the compost where composting is available. Check what your municipality accepts.
